DALLAS — The Dallas County Democratic Party (DCDP) has prevailed in all five legal challenges filed against the party related to the administration of the March 3 Democratic Primary. Each challenge has now been resolved in accordance with Texas law, and in every case, the party’s actions were upheld.

Throughout this election cycle, DCDP has followed all applicable statutes, rules, and procedures governing candidate eligibility, ballot access, and election administration. Even as these legal challenges were addressed, DCDP remained focused on voter access, education, and execution of the March 3 primary election.

Dallas County Democratic Party Chair Kardal Coleman issued the following statement: “Over the past several weeks, our party faced multiple legal challenges, and we followed the law every step of the way. Each challenge has now been resolved, and the courts affirmed what we already knew — that the Dallas County Democratic Party conducted this process fairly and lawfully, with voters at the center of every decision. Our focus has remained on protecting access to the ballot and ensuring voters have clear, accurate information. With these matters resolved, we are actively engaged in outreach efforts to encourage voters to make a plan to vote early.”

 Early Voting (February 17 - February 27):

Dallas County Commissioners Court approved Early Voting locations on January 20, clearing the way for countywide early voting at any designated location.

Election Day (March 3): Election Day polling locations were finalized this week by the Dallas County Democratic Party pursuant to Texas Election Code § 43.003, which assigns political parties responsibility for designating Election Day polling locations in primary elections. The Dallas County Elections Department has created an Election Day location notification sign-up as they work diligently to execute election services contracts and finalize polling locations and the interactive Election Day map for the March 3, 2026 Primary Election.

Recent changes to election operations, including the requirement that voters cast ballots only at their assigned precinct on Election Day, were not initiated by Dallas County Democrats. As widely reported, the decision by the Republican Party to conduct a separate primary election created additional administrative strain and delayed final confirmation of some polling locations. Despite these challenges, the Dallas County Democratic Party worked within the law and in coordination with county elections officials to finalize locations as quickly and responsibly as possible.

With court challenges resolved and polling location processes nearing completion, Dallas County Democrats strongly encourage voters to take advantage of early voting to avoid confusion and ensure a smooth voting experience.

The Dallas County Democratic Party respectfully asks for the media’s assistance in helping inform voters that during the Early Voting period, voters may vote at any countywide Vote Center, while on Election Day, voting will be precinct-based and voters must cast their ballot at their assigned party’s polling location
