We're teaming up with Meals on Wheels on Thursday, November 16!
Filing began for public office in the 2018 Democratic Primary on Saturday, November 11, at the Dallas County Democratic Party office, at 4209 Parry at Fletcher, Dallas 75223. We are open 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM Monday - Friday. [We will be closed November 23 and 24 and on the afternoon of Nov. 22 for Thanksgiving.] We will also be open the last Saturday before the filing deadline, on Saturday, December 9, from 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM.
We usually have Notaries present in case anyone needs that, but candidates are better off if they get things notarized and then make their own copies before bringing them in. We give receipts for the filing form, any filing fee, and for any petition of x pages. We don't count the signatures that appear valid until afterwards.
NOTE TO CANDIDATES CIRCULATING PETITIONS: Make sure the voter address includes the CITY. Many signers seem confused about this because of the "County" column. I have seen more signatures we could not count because no city is shown than for any other cause.
The filing does not become official until reviewed and signed by the County Chair, which usually does not happen the same day. Once that happens, the candidate's name will be listed on the Secretary of State's website list of filings. The link for the filings that have been accepted (not just received) is at https://webservices.sos.state.tx.us/candidate-filing/cf-report.aspx
Candidates who submit applications are listed that same day at stoutdemblog.blogspot.com, with pictures from the filing when we get them. Remember these are only pending until listed at the Secretary of State's site above.
We will have several Primary contests, statewide and local. This should be an interesting and fun electoral year!
See who represents Dallas County from the People’s House to the Court House. We’ve compiled elected officials’ websites, Facebook and Twitter accounts, so you don’t have to go looking.
The Leadership Council is a special group within the Dallas County Democratic Party of elected officials who provide financial and leadership support to the party. Our elected officials understand that a strong local party is key to their own success during their initial election and subsequent re-elections. This financial support allows the party to provide more comprehensive voter outreach for candidates and develop expansive “Get Out The Vote” efforts. See the list at this page.
