Judge Kristin Wade's Misdemeanor Mental Health Jail Diversion Holiday Party
On December 14, 2009, Judge Kristin Wade's Misdemeanor Mental Health Jail Diversion Clients received a huge holiday treat. They all received gifts and were served a catered barbeque lunch as well as new hoodies and hygiene boxes. This holiday party is a tradition in Judge Wade's court. For the past five years, she and her staff as well as concerned citizens and attorneys adopt out the clients providing them with much needed caring over the difficult holiday season. In addition to providing gifts for the clients in the program every year we get their children gifts as well. All of the participants in Judge Wade's program are suffering from mental illness and have been involved in the justice system for minor offenses. Judge Wade tries to get the clients out of jail and in services in the community to get their lives back on track. This holiday party is just one way we try to let those suffering with mental illness and substance abuse know that the justice system cares about their success.
