Rick Magnis was elected to the 283rd Criminal District Court in 2006. Since taking the bench Judge Magnis has spearheaded new attorney appointment procedures and policies to assure that court appointments are fair and open. The Judge is pioneering a paperless file system that is more efficient and cheaper to operate, saving taxpayers’ money. Magnis also presides over a special program for non-violent mentally ill drug users. He also kept his 2006 campaign promise to take back difficult cases involving child victims from visiting judges.
Judge Magnis works hard for Dallas County; his court moved the most felony cases in 2008 and 2009.
