Ro-Man, 1953 Robot Monster, movie monster extraordinaireThe Dallas County Democratic Party's new website makes use of Google Analytics since September 1st, 2009 to track statistics on who visits the site.  This helps us better understand our audience of Internet visitors, and try to make sure the site is most accomodating to them.  In light of the Holiday Season, we thought we would have some fun and share some of the insights that these statistics have provided.

Before the Filing Perid opened in December, the website received on average 150 to 200 unique visitors every day.  Since Filing Period began, the amount of our daily visitors have doubled.  The typical visitor spends 4 minutes and 11 seconds reading our site, and visits an average of 3.4 pages.  45% of all site visitors are new and have not been to the site before. Allen Vaught, State Representative District 107Democratic State Representative Allen Vaught has been chosen to receive the 2009 Legislative Action Award from the Texas Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for his work in passing the booster seat bill which was one of the PTA's top legislative priorities for the 81st Legislative Session. The Board of Directors of Texas PTA established the Legislative Action Award for the purpose of highlighting the commitment and dedication of elected officials who go above and beyond to ensure every child's potential becomes reality.

Rep. Allen Vaught was the House sponsor of Senate Bill 61, and was instrumental in passing the bill through the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee and on the House floor. Senate Bill 61 requires a child to be restrained in a booster seat until he or she reaches 4'9" or the age of 8. Booster seat laws raise booster seat use by 40% and their use reduces the risk by 59% for severe head, spinal cord and internal organ injuries. A phase-in period is provided allowing time to educate Texans so that violations do not take effect until June 2010. Read more »

On December 14, 2009, Judge Kristin Wade's Misdemeanor Mental Health Jail Diversion Clients received a huge holiday treat. They all received gifts and were served a catered barbeque lunch as well as new hoodies and hygiene boxes. This holiday party is a tradition in Judge Wade's court. For the past five years, she and her staff as well as concerned citizens and attorneys adopt out the clients providing them with much needed caring over the difficult holiday season. In addition to providing gifts for the clients in the program every year we get their children gifts as well. All of the participants in Judge Wade's program are suffering from mental illness and have been involved in the justice system for minor offenses. Judge Wade tries to get the clients out of jail and in services in the community to get their lives back on track. This holiday party is just one way we try to let those suffering with mental illness and substance abuse know that the justice system cares about their success.
