Canvass of 2018 Democratic Primary. Precinct Chairs vote to accept the canvass of the Primary. This is a legally required formality. Attendance is not required, a quorum is only any single Precinct Chair (usually no more than a dozen or less show up), and no other business can be conducted except the canvass. This does not affect any requested election recount, which would be conducted on a different date and at the Election Department with poll watchers from any affected candidates. This also will not be the drawing for ballot order positions in the primary runoff in May -- UPDATE: According to Section 172.084 of the Election Code, passed in the most recent legislature, "The order of the candidates' names on the runoff primary election ballot for each county shall be in the same order as on the general primary election ballot." No drawing will be needed for runoff ballot order. For instance, this means in Dallas County Valdez will be first on the runoff ballot for Governor and White second.
